Enrolment
Holy Saviour Primary School
Enquiries about Holy Saviour Primary School are most welcome. Enrolling your child in a school is a very important decision for your family. Personal tours with the Principal are available at a time that suits your family. Meeting our students and staff, and seeing how they engage in learning and teaching, seeing our children and teachers in action is the best way to see if our school is the right one for your child.

Uniform
The children at Holy Saviour are very proud of their school. The purpose of the school uniform is to identify each student as a member of this community, and thereby to establish a common bond. The parents and staff together believe that wearing a simple school uniform enhances this feeling of belonging. The wearing of uniforms establishes attitudes of pride and cooperation and adds to the tone of the school. Parents are urged to ensure children wear their uniform and take pride in their appearance. During First and Fourth terms the school hat is a uniform requirement.
New uniforms can be purchased from Primary School Wear (PSW) in Mount Waverley. Information about uniforms and a catalogue list can be found here. We also offer second hand uniforms through the school.
Preschool to Prep Transition
We believe a smooth transition from Preschool to Prep (Foundation) is vital to provide a positive start to school life for each child and their parents. Our Prep Transition program begins in September / October. The incoming Preps meet with their buddies in Year 5 (Year 6 next year) who will support them throughout their Prep journey. They take part in a range of activities and meet other Preps who will be in their classes. The children also meet many of the teachers in the school, including their classroom teacher for their Prep year, who will visit them before school begins for a home visit.
Transition Prep through Year 6
School transition is a process of movement or change that takes place from one school year to the next. This change could include changes in the physical surroundings, friendships, relationships, expectations and routines.
It is our endeavour at Holy Saviour to provide support and clear processes for all students as they move through their educational journey. For some students, family and teachers, transition may present a number of challenges. At Holy Saviour we have implemented a variety of programs that aim to provide additional transition support for our students that:
-
Encourage smooth and effective transition for all students.
-
Support teachers as they plan, monitor and assess student progress and continue to develop educational pathways for all students.
-
Include personal, social and teaching and learning transition needs of students at risk.
-
Display flexibility in timelines to accommodate all students.
Transition from Year 6 to Year 7
Moving from primary to secondary school is a very important step in each child’s education. The transition from childhood to adolescence includes many changes, both physically and emotionally.
In Year 6, all students participate in a comprehensive transition program, titled ‘Ready’. Our teachers work closely with local secondary schools and students participate in 6 x hour long transition sessions aimed at supporting their transition to a new school environment. The ‘Ready’ program has been developed and implemented with great success each year as students finish their primary education equipped with the knowledge required to venture into a new educational setting.
